Why Are My Messages Not Getting Responses?
The main thing to understand any time your outreach is not working is that very rarely is it that platform that is "not working" but rather the message being delivered is not compelling enough to move to prospects to respond to it.
This is why the foundational work with your niche research and messaging is so vital, as it snowballs into the responses you will receive from your outreach.
The first thing to ask yourself is - is my messaging CUSTOMIZED to my niche?
The easiest way to figure this out is to read your message templates and ask yourself if this could apply to any business owner on the planet.
Bad message example - I help chiropractors generate 6-12 high quality leads every month (generic, boring, and could apply to any business if you substitute "chiropractor" with any other business)
Good message example - I help roofing sales pros triple their monthly contracts WITHOUT storm chasing or door knocking. Ask me how! (personalized, niche specific, and speaks directly to the pain points of the niche)
With just a few small tweaks in your wording, you can take a generic message into a personalized one and will see a large jump in your response.
If your messaging is customized to your niche and you still aren't receiving responses, the next thing to look at your numbers.
It can be a very common occurrence to get emotional when things aren't going your way. It is at this point it is very important to take a step back and be logical at your progress.
Here are the following stats that are important to look at:
- Total prospects contacted (each platform)
- Reply rate (total replies received / total prospects contacted)
- Call booking rate (total calls booked / total replies received)
- Total time running outreach (days)
It is important to be patient with outreach as it takes a minimum of 1-2 weeks to get an accurate representation of data.
Once you have a sufficient sample size, take a look at your data and begin asking yourself what it means.
For example, if you find that you are getting a solid number of replies, but your call booking rate is poor, that means your opening messages are doing a good job of catching prospects' attention, but you are not doing a good job of holding their attention and continuing the conversation.
Conversely, if you are not getting any replies to begin with, that means your opening messages need work and need to be more customized to your niche/made more appealing to what your prospects' truly desire.
